Lacrimal system Examination

Schirmer'stest: Schirmer's test uses thin paper strips inserted into the lower eyelid for a certain period of time (usually 5 minutes) to measure the production of tearsand can be donewith or without local anesthetic. The paper is then removed and the amount of moisture is measured, compared with the standard tear function. Patients with dry eyes wet the paper less than standard.
